Bullet Points
1. I hate being so busy. I've been working 10 - 11 days for the past week and a half and 12 - 13 hours the week before that. I got home today at 5 (only worked for 9.5 hours today) and read a book. It was decadent.
2. Went to Staunton for Labor Day. Apparently, when Ben and I want to go some place and can't think of anything else, we go to Staunton. We decided to go at like 5 on Saturday (after spending the morning dropping off his new car, yes, new car at the dealership to get protective wax barriers applied and finishing up putting my room together - note to self: Ben is very good at hanging posters). We got to break in the new car, went to Cracker Barrel, and went to sleep early in our separate double beds ... it's like a honeymoon from the 1950's! The next morning Ben made me get up early so we could do the things I planned. We went to Monticello -- which is surprisingly interesting and it was a very lovely day -- I saw pineapple plants. Then we went to the Green Valley book fair where I purchased way too many books -- but who doesn't love books? We went to Mill Street for dinner. Interestingly enough, the two new teachers at our school on 8-5 (my mentee and the new brand new math teacher) knew about Staunton and one had even gone to Mill Street (my mentee is from Roanoke and the math teacher went to JMU -- small world). I feel asleep after dinner and my expensive eye cream decided to commit suicide and spill itself all against the hotel toilet. We came back on Monday after stopping at the Baldwin book store for window clings and flip flops.
3. I like my kids this year. Like most of them. I really like my fifth period, which is odd, because I've like hated them for the past three years. Like have nightmares about them. Other things suck about this year, like my old mentor doesn't have the same planning period as me which significantly limits the amount of time I get to talk to her and Peggy doesn't have 7th period planning, which significantly limits the amount of fire drills I can skip out on.
4. People keep asking me how married life is. It's not that different, except I have to think about what to call Ben when I refer to him. I do enjoy being married; I love Ben more than ever -- especially when he brings home ridiculous soda and make delicious things with it. You know, and when he's all sweet and cute and stuff.
5. However, I must amend the list of people I would leave Ben for:
Kevin Smith (because he's probably one of the few people who makes me laugh more than Ben)
I swear there were some other people -- I wouldn't leave Ben for Jonathan Rhys Myers because he's just a pair of ridiculously sexy lips
John Green - because he writes possibly the best books I've read in a long time -- rivaling Chris Crutcher (who is totally on some sort of mortality exploration). And I am very jealous of our librarian who got to eat breakfast with John Green at the ALA conference.
6. My cat has this adorable new habit of sleeping on the back of the couch on the armrest right by my head. It's absolutely freaking adorable. Almost so adorable that it almost makes up for the fact that he keeps pooping on the floor in the bathroom. Hello! I cleaned your litter box on Monday -- you can still poop in it. It's super fresh.
